The transient was discovered on 4th December 2023 at 13:02:02 (MJD 60282.54) by ATLAS as ATLAS23woo with a discovery magnitude of orange = 18.60. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.086.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Nuclear Transient

The transient is synonymous with SDSS J102236.52+441753.2; a G=18.96 mag galaxy found in the SDSS/GAIA catalogues. Its located 0.6" (1.0 Kpc) from the galaxy core. A host z=0.086 implies a m - M = 37.96.
