The transient was discovered on 20th December 2022 at 10:40:15 (MJD 59933.44) by ZTF as ZTF22abzhahz with a discovery magnitude of g = 19.19. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.059.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSS J105828.3+373435.7; a J=15.12 mag galaxy found in the SDSS/2MASS catalogues. Its located 4.61" S, 4.13" E (7.1 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.059 implies a m - M = 37.12.
