The transient was discovered on 3rd February 2022 at 12:51:50 (MJD 59613.54) by ATLAS as ATLAS22eok with a discovery magnitude of orange = 19.27. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.105.

The transient is possibly associated with 181742003053478235; an r=22.06 mag galaxy found in the PS1 catalogue. Its located 4.00" N, 1.61" W from the galaxy centre.
