The transient was discovered on 24th March 2020 at 11:02:24 (MJD 58932.46) by ATLAS as ATLAS20iwi with a discovery magnitude of cyan = 19.28. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.071.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSS J115545.25+462839.9; an r=18.18 mag galaxy found in the SDSS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 3.19 arcsec N, 1.57 arcsec W (4.8 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.071 implies a m - M = 37.53.
