The transient was discovered on 5th September 2023 at 10:48:00 (MJD 60192.45) by ZTF as ZTF23abazdqu with a discovery magnitude of r = 19.82. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.095.

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSS J015245.78+200732.3; an r=19.54 mag galaxy found in the SDSS/PS1 catalogues. Its located 3.77" N, 1.83" E from the galaxy centre.
