The transient was discovered on 5th September 2023 at 08:09:41 (MJD 60192.34) by ZTF as ZTF23abaxkwq with a discovery magnitude of g = 18.17. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.014.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with 21572913+4114560; a J=10.79 mag galaxy found in the 2MASS/LASR/PS1 catalogues. Its located 4.85" N, 0.19" W (1.4 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.014 implies a m - M = 33.96.
