The transient was discovered on 4th September 2023 at 09:17:16 (MJD 60191.39) by ZTF as ZTF23abavxmm with a discovery magnitude of g = 19.86. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.061.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSS J233126.93+281348.4; a J=13.90 mag galaxy found in the SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. Its located 2.46" N, 7.15" W from the galaxy centre.
