The transient was discovered on 14th May 2023 at 08:36:29 (MJD 60078.36) by ZTF as ZTF23aajkejg with a discovery magnitude of g = 19.91. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia-91T-like at z = 0.110.

The transient is possibly associated with SDSS J172620.66+233944.8; a J=16.28 mag galaxy found in the SDSS/2MASS/PS1/GAIA catalogues. Its located 0.02" S, 0.66" E from the galaxy centre.
