The transient was discovered on 13th May 2023 at 05:08:09 (MJD 60077.21) by ZTF as ZTF23aajgpos with a discovery magnitude of r = 19.15. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.048.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with 2MASXJ10261299%2B2121077; a J=12.42 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. Its located 5.58" N, 3.43" E (6.7 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.056 implies a m - M = 36.97.
