The transient was discovered on 9th May 2023 at 10:01:13 (MJD 60073.42) by Pan-STARRS as PS23cwh with a discovery magnitude of i = 18.99. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.038.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSSJ111422.99%2B531206.9; an r=18.35 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/PS1 catalogues. Its located 9.23" S, 2.82" E (7.2 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.038 implies a m - M = 36.12.
