The transient was discovered on 8th May 2023 at 12:43:16 (MJD 60072.53) by ATLAS as ATLAS23kbx with a discovery magnitude of orange = 16.92. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia-91T-like at z = 0.020.

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with MCG%2B09-31-013; a J=13.33 mag galaxy found in the NED/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. Its located 1.84" N, 2.45" E from the galaxy centre.
