The transient was discovered on 9th May 2023 at 04:35:02 (MJD 60073.19) by ZTF as ZTF23aaiyjbk with a discovery magnitude of r = 18.10. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.038.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSS J110946.65+111141.5; an r=17.91 mag galaxy found in the SDSS/PS1 catalogues. Its located 8.51" S, 5.73" W (7.7 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.038 implies a m - M = 36.10.
