The transient was discovered on 20th April 2023 at 09:05:40 (MJD 60054.38) by ATLAS as ATLAS23ioj with a discovery magnitude of cyan = 16.69. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.010.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with MCG-01-54-016; a W1=14.28 mag galaxy found in the NED_D/LASR catalogues. Its located 42.00" N, 22.60" E (10.9 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host distance of 47.1 Mpc(z=0.010) implies a m - M = 33.37.
