The transient is possibly associated with SDSS J172059+612810; a V=17.66 mag AGN found in the SDSS/MILLIQUAS/GSC/2MASS/GAIA/PS1/VERON catalogues. Its located 0.03" S, 2.07" E (7.7 Kpc) from the AGN centre. A host z=0.236 implies a m - M = 40.36.
