The transient was discovered on 9th April 2023 at 06:32:41 (MJD 60043.27) by Pan-STARRS as PS23bmi with a discovery magnitude of w = 19.85. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia-91T-like at z = 0.033.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with CGCG065-050; a J=12.61 mag galaxy found in the NED_D/SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. Its located 8.47" N, 15.49" E (10.6 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host distance of 125.0 Mpc(z=0.033) implies a m - M = 35.48.
