The transient was discovered on 12th March 2023 at 22:25:01 (MJD 60015.93) by ATLAS as ATLAS23don with a discovery magnitude of orange = 17.44. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.033.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with 2MASXJ13450588%2B0348157; a J=14.18 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. Its located 2.67" S, 3.53" E (2.6 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.033 implies a m - M = 35.81.
