The transient was discovered on 13th March 2023 at 06:53:42 (MJD 60016.29) by ZTF as with a discovery magnitude of r = 19.47. It was subsequently classified as a SN II at z = 0.002.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with MESSIER108; a W1=10.07 mag galaxy found in the NED_D/LASR catalogues. Its located 2.27" N, 69.74" E (5.1 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host distance of 15.1 Mpc(z=0.002) implies a m - M = 30.89.
