The transient was discovered on 19th February 2023 at 05:26:42 (MJD 59994.23) by ZTF as ZTF23aacopzi with a discovery magnitude of r = 19.11. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.049.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with CGCG032-041NED02; a J=12.63 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. Its located 2.33" S, 4.51" E (4.9 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.049 implies a m - M = 36.70.
