The transient was discovered on 12th February 2023 at 05:36:17 (MJD 59987.23) by ZTF as ZTF23aacfiuv with a discovery magnitude of r = 18.00. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.017.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with UGC04025; a J=11.56 mag galaxy found in the NED_D/SDSS/2MASS/LASR/PS1 catalogues. Its located 9.01" N, 5.56" E (3.4 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host distance of 66.0 Mpc(z=0.017) implies a m - M = 34.10.
