The transient was discovered on 1st February 2023 at 17:59:54 (MJD 59976.75) by DLT40 as DLT23b with a discovery magnitude of Clear = 17.26. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ic at z = 0.007.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with NGC2708:[PWL2002]STR; an unknown-mag galaxy found in the NED catalogue. Its located 93.00" S, 13.09" W (12.9 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.007 implies a m - M = 32.29.
