The transient was discovered on 28th January 2023 at 02:47:21 (MJD 59972.12) by DLT40 as DLT23a with a discovery magnitude of Clear = 15.64. It was subsequently classified as a SN II.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with NGC2283; a W1=11.95 mag galaxy found in the NED_D/LASR catalogues. Its located 76.20" S, 37.53" E (4.1 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host distance of 9.9 Mpc(z=0.003) implies a m - M = 29.97.
