The transient was discovered on 14th November 2022 at 09:25:37 (MJD 59897.39) by ZTF as ZTF22abtspsw with a discovery magnitude of r = 15.76. It was subsequently classified as a SN II at z = 0.005.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with NGC2777; a J=12.50 mag galaxy found in the NED/NED_D/SDSS/2MASS/PS1/LASR catalogues. Its located 3.66" S, 0.28" E (0.5 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host distance of 25.7 Mpc(z=0.005) implies a m - M = 32.05.
