The transient was discovered on 26th July 2022 at 17:31:12 (MJD 59786.73) by ASAS-SN as ASASSN-22jp with a discovery magnitude of g = 15.90. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.003.

Prediction: Supernova
The transient is possibly associated with NGC4415; a W1=11.91 mag galaxy found in the NED_D/LASR catalogues. Its located 46.74" N, 123.97" E (9.6 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host distance of 14.9 Mpc(z=0.003) implies a m - M = 30.87.
