The transient was discovered on 24th December 2018 at 12:57:23 (MJD 58476.54) by ZTF as ZTF18adalhga with a discovery magnitude of r = 18.98. It was subsequently classified as a SN II at z = 0.043.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with 2MASXJ14235567-1121026; a J=13.77 mag galaxy found in the NED/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 1.21 arcsec S, 3.63 arcsec W (3.2 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.043 implies a m - M = 36.37.
