The transient was discovered on 23rd December 2018 at 12:15:50 (MJD 58475.51) by ZTF as ZTF18aczqzrj with a discovery magnitude of g = 19.08. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ic at z = 0.043.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSSJ083516.32%2B481901.4; an r=18.70 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 1.70 arcsec N, 1.20 arcsec W (1.8 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.043 implies a m - M = 36.39.
