The transient was discovered on 20th December 2018 at 04:58:04 (MJD 58472.21) by ZTF as ZTF18aczbkqp with a discovery magnitude of g = 18.91. It was subsequently classified as a LBV at z = 0.013.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with MCG%2B07-07-070; a J=13.52 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/2MASS/LASR/PS1 catalogues. It's located 7.06 arcsec N, 0.13 arcsec E (1.7 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.013 implies a m - M = 33.75.
