The transient was discovered on 13th December 2018 at 12:18:43 (MJD 58465.51) by ZTF as ZTF18acvwchp with a discovery magnitude of r = 17.73. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.051.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSSJ140532.61%2B551840.8; an r=18.63 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 4.50 arcsec S, 3.00 arcsec W (5.0 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.051 implies a m - M = 36.80.
