The transient was discovered on 8th December 2018 at 14:15:21 (MJD 58460.59) by ATLAS as ATLAS18bbqp with a discovery magnitude of orange = 18.55. It was subsequently classified as a SN II at z = 0.034.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with 2MASXJ10324763-0012187; an r=18.79 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 1.93 arcsec N, 0.36 arcsec E (1.3 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.034 implies a m - M = 35.87.
