The transient was discovered on 13th December 2018 at 12:27:21 (MJD 58465.52) by ZTF as ZTF18acvguyi with a discovery magnitude of r = 18.73. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.045.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSSJ124103.32%2B080417.3; an r=17.39 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 4.29 arcsec N, 1.55 arcsec E (4.3 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.048 implies a m - M = 36.66.
