The transient was discovered on 9th December 2018 at 13:13:26 (MJD 58461.55) by ZTF as ZTF18acusueb with a discovery magnitude of r = 16.30. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.022.
Sherlock Contextual Classification
Prediction: Supernova
The transient is possibly associated with CGCG106-033; a J=11.83 mag galaxy found in the NED_D/SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 5.66 arcsec N, 1.81 arcsec W (2.2 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host distance of 76.6 Mpc(z=0.023) implies a m - M = 34.42.
