The transient was discovered on 9th December 2018 at 12:24:28 (MJD 58461.52) by ZTF as ZTF18acuscrr with a discovery magnitude of r = 19.48. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.070.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSSJ081231.12%2B382456.1; an r=18.33 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 3.93 arcsec N, 1.35 arcsec E (6.3 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.080 implies a m - M = 37.79.
