The transient was discovered on 9th December 2018 at 11:39:50 (MJD 58461.49) by ZTF as ZTF18acurlbt with a discovery magnitude of g = 18.49. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.080.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSSJ124649.91%2B224751.7; an r=18.03 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 4.62 arcsec S, 4.72 arcsec E (9.1 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.078 implies a m - M = 37.74.
