The transient was discovered on 7th December 2018 at 13:00:28 (MJD 58459.54) by ATLAS as ATLAS18bbqs with a discovery magnitude of cyan = 19.39. It was subsequently classified as a SN II at z = 0.045.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Nuclear Transient

The transient is synonymous with 2MASXJ08093362%2B1531103; an r=16.89 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS catalogues. It's located 1.2 arcsec (1.0 Kpc) from the galaxy core. A host z=0.045 implies a m - M = 36.47.
