The transient was discovered on 2nd December 2018 at 09:41:45 (MJD 58454.40) by ATLAS as ATLAS18zro with a discovery magnitude of cyan = 18.51. It was subsequently classified as a SN II at z = 0.021.

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with XMM:[RBO2008]ir00222417; an unknown-mag VisS found in the NED catalogue. Its located 1.93" N, 0.66" W from the VisS centre.
