The transient was discovered on 4th December 2018 at 04:29:02 (MJD 58456.19) by ZTF as ZTF18acsyanq with a discovery magnitude of r = 18.21. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.060.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSS J012350.88+105132.6; an r=18.87 mag galaxy found in the SDSS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 0.45 arcsec S, 0.58 arcsec E from the galaxy centre.
