The transient was discovered on 4th December 2018 at 04:19:12 (MJD 58456.18) by ZTF as ZTF18acsxpmp with a discovery magnitude of r = 18.85. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.076.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSS J004043.08+300242.6; an r=18.75 mag galaxy found in the SDSS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 3.27 arcsec N, 1.87 arcsec W from the galaxy centre.
