The transient was discovered on 23rd December 2018 at 11:44:06 (MJD 58475.49) by ZTF as ZTF18acrygtk with a discovery magnitude of r = 18.19. It was subsequently classified as a SN II at z = 0.020.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with LCRSB130109.0-112106; a W1=13.48 mag galaxy found in the NED/LASR catalogues. It's located 77.90 arcsec N, 76.53 arcsec W (41.4 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.019 implies a m - M = 34.55.
