The transient was discovered on 28th November 2018 at 12:37:16 (MJD 58450.53) by ZTF as ZTF18acrnfww with a discovery magnitude of g = 17.62. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.070.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with 2MASXJ12041721%2B3900014; a J=13.28 mag galaxy found in the NED_D/SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 5.16 arcsec S, 1.07 arcsec W (6.9 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host distance of 282.0 Mpc(z=0.065) implies a m - M = 37.25.
