The transient was discovered on 30th November 2018 at 09:34:33 (MJD 58452.40) by ATLAS as ATLAS18zpv with a discovery magnitude of orange = 18.63. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.080.

The transient is possibly associated with 2MASXJ02062389-1322329; a J=14.52 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 7.70 arcsec N, 1.10 arcsec W from the galaxy centre.
