The transient was discovered on 21st November 2018 at 12:56:09 (MJD 58443.54) by ZTF as ZTF18acqxyiq with a discovery magnitude of g = 19.21. It was subsequently classified as a SN IIb at z = 0.038.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with 2MASXJ09591813%2B3453533; a J=13.94 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 9.62 arcsec S, 0.81 arcsec E (7.1 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.039 implies a m - M = 36.15.
