The transient was discovered on 20th November 2018 at 12:14:44 (MJD 58442.51) by ZTF as ZTF18acqpqph with a discovery magnitude of g = 16.12. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.023.

The transient is possibly associated with WISEAJ133920.11%2B344116.9; a J=14.94 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 3.15 arcsec N, 0.16 arcsec E (1.2 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.023 implies a m - M = 35.02.
