The transient was discovered on 10th November 2018 at 11:47:02 (MJD 58432.49) by ZTF as ZTF18achdidy with a discovery magnitude of g = 18.65. It was subsequently classified as a SLSN-I at z = 0.163.

The transient is possibly associated with RCS04101104510; a 23.30 mag galaxy found in the NED catalogue. It's located 0.25 arcsec N, 0.95 arcsec E from the galaxy centre.
