The transient was discovered on 3rd November 2018 at 04:34:39 (MJD 58425.19) by ZTF as ZTF18abufaej with a discovery magnitude of r = 19.49. It was subsequently classified as a SN II at z = 0.062.

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with SDSS J001755.80+120532.4; a J=14.92 mag galaxy found in the SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 3.40 arcsec S, 0.18 arcsec E from the galaxy centre.
