The transient was discovered on 10th June 2018 at 05:46:39 (MJD 58279.24) by ZTF as ZTF18aaxzlmy with a discovery magnitude of r = 19.97. It was subsequently classified as a SN II at z = 0.025.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Supernova

The transient is possibly associated with UGC08561NOTES01; a J=12.75 mag galaxy found in the NED/SDSS/2MASS/PS1 catalogues. It's located 1.07 arcsec N, 1.51 arcsec E (0.9 Kpc) from the galaxy centre. A host z=0.024 implies a m - M = 35.12.
