The transient was discovered on 4th September 2023 at 12:11:31 (MJD 60191.51) by ZTF as ZTF18aaezzww with a discovery magnitude of r = 17.22. It was subsequently classified as a SN Ia at z = 0.025.

Sherlock Contextual Classification

Prediction: Nuclear Transient

The transient is synonymous with SDSS J082443.18+224454.0; an r=15.51 mag galaxy found in the SDSS catalogue. Its located 0.9" (0.5 Kpc) from the galaxy core. A host z=0.025 implies a m - M = 35.21.
